Britta Perry is amazing.

Because she is the person that most of us are and don’t want to admit we are. 

She isn’t that cool. She doesn’t shoot out snarky one liners and smart comebacks. She is actually a really huge dork, but she tries really hard to be relevent. She does her best to act compassionate and kind…she wants to care about the plight of every person, but that doesn’t stop her from being selfish sometimes in her heart. She isn’t an honorable, strong hero, but she WANTS to be. Her whole identity really has to do with her desire to rise above who she is. 

I feel like of all of the characters, Britta is the most messy and unpredictable. She doesn’t have Annie’s cuteness and forgivability, or Jeff’s Charm. She doesn’t have Abed’s inherent general awesomeness, Troy’s humor, Pierces constant trope lines, or Shirley’s headstrong nature. She fucks up a lot. She is inherently unlikable. She is sort of this annoying smartass that only appeals to a select group of people. She is deeply insecure, and though she pretends not to care what other people think, people’s words and actions sting more than she cares to admit. 

Britta isn’t really a character I can relate to on a basic level, but I do feel like she embodies a lot of secret parts of myself that I have a hard time admitting. Of the group, I think that she is easily the most tragically human. It’s easy to say that you can relate to the rest of the cast, because they all have their bits of “coolness” that make them stand out. It’s hard to say that you relate to Britta, because I think that it requires a lot of introspection…you don’t WANT to relate to Britta even if you like her.

I feel like regardless, there is a lot more Britta in us Tumblr users than we would like to admit. She is like…the perfect example of somebody I feel like i’d meet from here. Britta is the poster child for the human condition.
